SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Rick Schiermeier has obtained informal bids for the lease of a loader and a grader for snow removal this
winter, in compliance with the procurement requirements of IC ________. Two bids were received, from
Cesco and ______. The bids are attached.
Cesco’s bid was the lowest, at a total cost of $34,500 for 100 hours per month on each piece of equipment
for five months and $34.50/hour for more than 100 hours per month. $60,000 is included in the FY08
budget for this expenditure. The budget will allow for a total of 879 hours each for the loader and grader.
Historically, similar pieces of equipment have been used for 450-850 hours per season, depending on the
volume of snowfall.
Any cost savings will be redirected to paving or seal coating, in the spring of 2008.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the lease agreement with Cesco and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
