SUMMARY STATEMENT: In 2005, the City of McCall was awarded $7666 from a Community
Transportation Enhancement grant to landscape the new hangars at McCall Airport. Construction delays for
the hangar project delayed the landscaping project, and the City asked for and received a one year extension
for the landscaping project. The Department of Lands awarded additional funding for the project for a total
of $14,925. Hangar Solutions agreed to participate in the landscaping project as a requirement of their
development agreement, and will contribute up to $8000 for the work.
Idaho Department of Lands has approved a planting plan and budget submitted by the City for the grant
award, and IDL requires 3 estimates from public works licensed contractors for the project. Staff solicited
bids from High Mountain Nursery, Betts Landscaping, and Teufel Nursery which included landscaping of
approximately 1350 feet (about 128 trees) using Chokecherry, Mtn. Ash, Lilac, and Aspen, 70 yds. topsoil
for planting, and the installation of a drip irrigation system with electric timer and water meter. The planting
plan was approved by the McCall Tree Committee. The airport will be responsible for the ongoing
maintenance and care of the landscaping and the City Arborist will provide annual tree inspections.
The bids received were as follows: (attached)
High Mountain Nursery $21,930.
Betts Landscaping: $29,204.00
Teufel Nursery: no bid received as of 8/6/07 ( requested to have bid by 8/3/07)
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award the landscaping project to High Mountain Nursery and authorize the
Mayor to sign all related documents.
