SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Council conducted a duly noticed, public hearing at the August 9 Council meeting regarding the
tentative ‘08 budget. The Council did not change the tentative budget, and no public comment
was offered at the meeting. The public hearing was left open until August 21 so the public could
submit written comments, but no written comments were received. The tentative budget would
have been submitted for adoption at the August 23 Council meeting, but the County missed their
deadline to provide final property tax figures by 8/3, and still did not have final numbers by the
August 23 meeting. So, on advice of the City Attorney, the Council was provided an amended
tentative budget on August 23 with a new projection for final property tax that would anticipate the
County’s final property tax number.
Council adopted an amended tentative budget in the amount of $18,475,107 on August 23, 2007.
The amended tentative budget anticipated the final new construction and annexation numbers
from the County. The Council will now conduct a public hearing on the amended tentative
budget. The Council will then be asked to adopt the final budget incorporating any changes made
at the September 6 public hearing.
The City is required to file an L2 form by September 6, with all final budget numbers disclosed.
We asked the County to extend our deadline by seven working days under IC 63-803. The
County granted the extension, so we have an additional ten days to file our L2. We will file our L2
with the County, tomorrow on September 7.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Suspend the rules, read by title only, one time only Ordinance No. 843. Adopt Ordinance
No. 843 setting the FY 2008 City of McCall budget appropriation at $18,475,107.
