SUMMARY STATEMENT:
In response to Council requests, staff has evaluated the speed limits on SH55, from Warren Wagon Road to
the city limits. The Police Department conducted the speed study by using radar to determine the actual
speed that vehicles are traveling, both northbound and southbound, in six different zones. The study was
conducted between October 19 and October 26. Attached is a summary of that study, as well as the raw data
collected in each zone.
As the summary shows, the average speeds are below the posted limits for all but one zone. In that one
zone, the posted speed is 35 mph and the average speed was 35.3 mph.
The staff’s conclusion is that no change to the posted speed limits is warranted.
