SUMMARY STATEMENT:
USGA Agronomist will tour the McCall City Municipal Golf Course with staff, members of the Golf
Course Advisory Committee, Council members and any other interested parties. The full-day tour will
include the entire course, pulling soil samples, taking pictures, asking and answering questions, discussing
maintenance plans and practices. After the tour, the agronomist will meet to go over information and any
other questions.
The information gathered will be compiled into a report, copies of which will be available to anyone
interested. The report will be kept on file at USGA so that it can be compared to future tours.
Staff has worked with USGA before and found them to be very helpful. It is a good experience because
during the process, staff has to defend ideas and plans of action and is then able to have someone in the
industry help and make suggestions. It is also a great experience for all of the others that attend because it
allows for a very open conversation and the group can ask and get answers for a number of questions.
Staff believes that this tour would be a great benefit to the golf course as well as to the City of McCall
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and fund a USGA Turf Advisory Tour, to be paid for with council contingency funds.
