SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of McCall is partnering with the McCall Donnelly School District to construct a detached multiuse
pathway on school property. This pathway will link to a new pathway that is being constructed at the
Payette Lakes Middle School and will then link to the existing Spring Mountain Ranch pathway system.
The intent is to provide a continuous pathway from Lick Creek to E. Deinhard Lane, thereby providing
school children and the community safe access to the middle school and new elementary school. ITD has
implemented a new program that provides funds for construction of pathways and for educational programs
designed to encourage children to walk or bike to school. The McCall Memorial Hospital is willing to
partner with the City and the schools to provide educational materials about the benefits of walking, and the
McCall Recreation Department is willing to provide educational materials about the benefits of bicycling as
well as safe bicycling practices. The McCall Police Department is also supportive of the project and will
providing enforcement as well as educational activities such as a bike rodeo.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the submission of the grant application and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
