SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The NDB is a locally owned non-precision navigational aide which can be removed and decommissioned
after an instrument departure procedure has been written and published by the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates. FAA presently is carrying a
publication date of September 28, 2008 for an Area Navigation (R-NAV) GPS based Localizer Precision
with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach which will supplant this ground-based equipment that is maintained
via private contract, and certified by FAA.
FAA has committed to publish a GPS based departure procedure by June 2008.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the attached contract with ASMI to maintain the McCall Non-Directional Beacon Navigational
Aide and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
