Town of Leesburg Eliminates Vehicle Decals
Town residents no longer need to display windshield decals as proof of
registration. Annual vehicle license fee of $25 per vehicle unchanged.
Leesburg, VA (November 28, 2017) – Earlier this month, the Leesburg Town Council amended
the Town Code to eliminate the requirement for town residents to display windshield decals on
their vehicles as proof of town registration. This change became effective on November 14,
2017. Residents no longer need to visit Town Hall to get vehicle decals.
The annual vehicle license fees remain in effect at $25 for automobiles and $15 for
motorcycles. The vehicle license fees are included on the annual town personal property tax
bills.
The elimination of town vehicle decals does not affect the requirement for town residents to
register their vehicles with Loudoun County. Failure to register vehicles location changes or new
purchases with Loudoun County will result owners being unable to renew their vehicle
registrations with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. For more information, visit the
town website at www.leesburgva.gov/pptax.
In addition, residential parking zone permit stickers are still required to be displayed on vehicles
parked in designated zones.
