SUMMARY STATEMENT:
We worked with John Lilehaug, Chairman of the Tree Committee, (who also works with Idaho
State Lands). We cleaned up the old Ordinance (which was about 8 pages), and added clarifying
language to a new Ordinance, which is about 20 pages long. A summary of all changes is
attached. Major changes have been made including (1) adding an appeals process, (2)
definitions section, (3) Clarification of procedures that must be followed before planting trees in
public right of ways, (4) designation of specific duties for arborist, (5) and other changes as
described in the summary.
We would like to discuss these changes with Council and get direction for a subsequent meeting
where we will incorporate your comments into a new proposed Tree Ordinance.
Attachments: (1) Bullet point summary of recommended changes to Ordinance, (2) Strike
out version of current Ordinance749, (3) One page summary new Ordinance and clean
copy of new Ordinance with all recommended changes incorporated.
