A quorum was present.The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. In the ThomasJefferson Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, JeffersonCity, Missouri.Approval of the Minutes:A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the March 24, 2022 meeting by Pam Wren,Jeanette Dulle seconded. Minutes were approved.Rebecca Gordon welcomed Dana DeWeese and his wife Linda DeWeese to the meeting. Dana is up forappointment to the Cemetery Resources Board at the next Council Meeting.Old Business:Rebecca Gordon gave a brief discussion about her goals for 2023 year which was continuing thepreserving gravestone information project for those stones that were no longer readable.Approximately ten stones were discussed for this project. Rebecca also discussed having a CemeteryWalking Tour for 2023. She mentioned October 2023 would be a tentative date for the CemeteryWalking Tour. Jeannette Dulle mentioned how the walking tour was done in 2016 with the help of theMissouri Governor's Mansion Docent's, help from the Historic City of Jefferson Organization, andcommunity participation. Tentative dates of October 7"^ or 14*^ 2023 were discussed. Rebecca andJeanette discussed the preserving gravestone information project and the spring would be a good time to walk through the cemetery to identify these gravestones. An additional granite marker would beplaced by the gravestone with identifying information.New Business:David Grellner gave update on cemetery maintenance this past year. He mentioned a limb had brokeoff one of the trees in Longview Cemetery and had the contractor clean the tree limb up. He alsomentioned a complaint was received from a neighbor of Longview Cemetery about the condition of theperimeter fence located on the north and east side. The maintenance contractor repaired the fence inspots where it had been worn down, removed barb wire from the fence that presented a safety hazard,and cleaned the fence line of brush.David Grellner mentioned the work that Nancy Thompson, Cemetery Volunteer, did to coordinate aneffort by Lincoln University students to help with maintenance projects in Woodland/Old City Cemeterythis past month such as raking leaves, picking up sticks, and cleaning and resetting gravestones. Anarticle from the News Tribune was distributed to board members.David also discussed the flag pole in Longview Cemetery that was donated by Mr. James Ludy in 2018. Amaple tree fell from a wind storm and damaged the flag pole. It needed replacement. The CemeteryResources Board members voted to replace the flag pole using restoration funds. Discussion occurredbetween members regarding sources for donations to help with cemetery projects.Other Topics and Issues:Meeting schedule for 2023 was discussed. A tentative meeting schedule was set for March 16, 2023,June 15, 2023, and September 21, 2023. Board members discussed additional meetings may benecessary or possible changes to the dates.The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in theThomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.Adjournment:With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.Respectfully submitted,David Grellner
