Crescent Parke Developer Transfers Olde Izaak Walton Park
Property to Town of Leesburg
Leesburg, VA (November 30, 2017) – Yesterday, the Town of Leesburg officially accepted the
transfer of the Olde Izaak Walton Park property into the town’s parks inventory. As part of the
rezoning approval agreements for the Crescent Parke development, MREC LD Leesburg
Crossing LLC acquired the park property from Failmetzger Investments and transferred it to
town ownership. In addition to conveying the park property to the town, MREC LD Leesburg
Crossing LLC also agreed to construct an access road to the park and upgrade the pond. MREC
LD Leesburg Crossing LLC paid $2.7 million for the property.
Since December 1999, the Town of Leesburg has leased the 21-acre Olde Izaak Walton Park
property and operated it as a part of the town’s parks system. The park includes a classroom
building, pond, walking trails, frontage along Tuscarora Creek, and the off-leash Leesburg Dog
Park. Owning the park rather than leasing it will save the Town more than $166,000 annually.
Future plans for the park may include further improvements to the pond, a fishing pier, picnic
facilities and a playground.
