SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This project was adopted in the 2007-2008 Fiscal Year Budget. $1,167,103 was allocated for Construction
of the project. $184,019 was allocated for Engineering design and SDC.
The bid package for the construction of the Lower Rio Vista Waterline Improvements was put out in April.
Bid opening was May 8, 2008. Eleven (11) bids were received. Bids ranged from a low bid of $499,204.70
from Brown Construction, to a high bid of $934,935, from Crea Construction. The Engineer's estimate was
$737,070.
Bid results have been reviewed by City staff and CH2M Hill. Staff and engineer recommend award to low
bidder Brown Construction.
Attached is a description of the project from the bid package, a recommendation letter from CH2M Hill
dated May 15, 2008, and a draft agreement as provided in the bid package. A final agreement is being
completed and will be reviewed by the City Attorney.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Award the Lower Rio Vista Waterline Improvement construction contract to Brown Construction and
authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
