Smart’s Mill Middle School Wins 2017 “Paint the Plow”
Contest
Friends of Leesburg Public Arts presented Smart’s Mill Middle School with a
$100 prize for the school’s “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” winning entry.
Leesburg, VA (December 13, 2017) –
Students from Smart’s Middle School
created the winning entry in the Town of
Leesburg’s 2017 “Paint the Plow” contest.
The Leesburg Commission on Public Art
announced the winner and recognized all
participants at the Leesburg Town Council
meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
Two Loudoun County Public Schools in
Leesburg participated in the second
annual “Paint the Plow” public art project,
sponsored by the Leesburg Commission on
Public Art and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts. The 2017 theme was “The Wizard of Oz” and
the three entries were:
The Emerald City, by C.S. Monroe Technology Center
Follow the Yellow Brick Road, by Smart's Mill Middle School
There’s No Place Like Home, by C.S. Monroe Technology Center
The painted snow plow blades were featured in the Kiwanis Halloween Parade and the
Leesburg Christmas and Holiday Parade. The winner was selected by the members of the public
using an online survey.
