SUMMARY STATEMENT:
On October 23, 2008 Connie Hogland, CEO for Neighborhood Housing Services, and Michael David with
VARHA, updated the City Council on the status of the McCall Avenue Homes. Ms. Hogland stated that
NHS is requesting that the City Council lift all the restrictions from the Community Housing Covenants. Mr.
David stated that the VARHA Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of the removal of the
restrictions.
The Council voted to lift all restrictions with the exception that the houses are owner occupied and that they
see the final Community Housing Covenants document prior to authorizing the amendments.
On October 29, 2088 the Council reviewed a blackline copy of the Community Housing Covenants and was
asked to approve the amendments to the Community Housing Covenants, and ratify the previous approval of
the First Amendment to the Ground Lease. After the Council reviewed the document they requested that all
references to renting the units be removed.
Attached are a blackline copy of the Community Housing Covenants, the First Amendment to Ground Lease,
and the original Ground Lease.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the amendments to the Community Housing Covenants, ratify the previous approval of the First
Amendment to the Ground Lease, and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
