SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Currently, the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) is soliciting applications for the
Local Rural Highway Improvement Program grant. Staff consulted with CH2M Hill to determine a cost for
the reconstruction of approximately 675 feet of Deinhard Lane. (see map). The intent is to improve the road
surface and widen the road section between the Four Corners and the Deinhard Lane Alternative section
near Thula. The improved surface and widening would improve safety and add a bike lane to that section.
Grading would improve storm water drainage. This project was identified as a needed road improvement in
an ARRA application in April, 2009, which was not funded.
CH2M will be developing a cost estimate for the grant application, as well as a scope of work. The grant is
due December 1, 2009.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submission of a LRHIP grant for road reconstruction of Deinhard Lane and authorize the
Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
