SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The construction contract for the replacement of Lift Station 8 was put out for bid through the formal bid
process. The bid opening was July 17, 2009. Four (4) bids were received: Sommer Construction
$287,204.65; Bodiford Construction $321,720; P&M Excavators $339,207; and Hills Construction
$681,502. The low bid by Sommer Construction has been reviewed, and city engineer CH2M Hill and city
staff recommend award to Sommer Construction.
This project is scheduled to be completed by December 2009. The replacement lift station itself is being
purchased separately from Smith & Loveless and will be delivered Sept. 15, 2009. This construction contract
is for the installation and set up of the new lift station. The expenses for this project have been budgeted in
FY09 and FY10. See attached cost summary for the project.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Award the contract for replacement of Lift Station 8 to lowest qualified bidder Sommer Construction,
and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract.
