SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The NDB is a locally owned non precision navigational aide. Although we have considered de-
commissioning this facility, we continue to wait for FAA to publish replacement approaches. At this time
they have re -scheduled publication for new approaches until December 17, 2009. We also need to wait to
see what the visibility criteria are for the new approaches. If the visibility is greater with the NDB approach,
we may want to keep it in commission indefinitely. Vaisala corporation purchased ASMI, the company that
has been maintaining the NDB. The same office staff and field maintenance staff work on the NDB.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the Contract with Vaisala and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract.
