WHAT: Bike TrAle Brewing Ribbon Cutting Ceremony WHEN: Friday, April 27, 2018 2:00 p.m. WHERE: Bike TrAle Brewing 101 Loudoun St SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175 Bike TrAle Brewing is Leesburg’s newest brewery. Head brewer and co-owner Greg Perlberg and co-owner Bruce Forbes previously worked together in the defense industry and wanted to find a way to go into business together. Initially they looked at hops farming, since Bruce grew up on a farm in Michigan and owns 32 acres of farmland in Loudoun County, but growing hops was a bit more complicated than they anticipated. The fallback plan was opening a brewery, due to Greg's experience with home brewing. Bruce’s farm property became host to the four barrel production brewery. Hops are still being grown on the farm, along with barley and rye. Greg and Bruce plan to use these ingredients in a locally sourced brew eventually. Located in an historic building in downtown Leesburg not far from the W&OD Trail, the taproom is cycling themed in a nod to Greg's passion for road biking. Bike TrAle Brewing opened at the end of October 2017 and features 12 beers on tap, most of which are named for biking terminology. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/biketralebrewing. # # #
