The following request for a Variance will come before the
Gulf Stream Planning and Zoning Board and the Town Commission.
1. Request for a 15.8' front setback instead of a 25' setback
from Shore Road in order to install a swimming pool, Sec. X
General Provisions, Page 37, I - 1 (e).
The Town of Gulf Stream Planning.and Zoning Board will review
the request at its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 6, 1989
at 9:00 a.m. at the Gulf Stream Town Hall, 100 Sea Road, Gulf
Stream, Florida.
All interested parties will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Plans are on file in the office of the Town Clerk, Gulf Stream
Town Hall.

Gentlemen,
I am writing to request a variance in order to build
a pool on the south side of my home.
I do not have room for a pool on the north, east or
west side, but have ample room for a pool on the south side with
the exception of the twenty -five foot setback from Shore Road.
The pool will be located inside a wall and a ficus
hedge so it will not be visible from the street or from any neighbors'
home. I would like to request a 15.8 foot setback (instead of a
25 foot setback) from Shore Road which will still keep the pool
within 30.8 feet of my property line of which 15 feet is road
right of way.
I hope that you will look favorably on this request
and grant the change in my setback from Shore Road as I feel a
pool will greatly enhance the value of my property.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by William A. Mayer, Chairman.

On motion duly made and seconded the Minutes of the June 7, 1989
meeting were approved.
3. Variance Request: Mrs. Barbara Whittaker, 1120 North Ocean Blvd.
Chairman Mayer questioned the need for a Variance as Mrs. Whittaker's
property extends into the road.
Discussion ensued on the possibility of future problems; therefore,
the Board on motion duly made and seconded approved Mrs. Whittaker's
request for a Variance.
There being no further business the Board adjourned the meeting at 9:15 a.m.
in order to discuss Mr. Brandt's report on Building Fees.

SUBJECT: BUILDING PERMIT FEES
As directed by the Town Commission at its July 19, 1989 meeting, I
submit herewith a report of fees charged by neighboring communities.
Cost of Building Permit Fees for a $250,000 Home.
Palm Beach County Fee $1850.00
Gulf Stream fee
(257 of County fee) $ 462.50
$2312.50
Ocean Ridge fee $1230.00
Lantana fee $2310.00
Highland Beach fee $1750.00
CDelray Beach fee $3049.20
The proposed new rate for Gulf Stream would be 507 of the
County fee (or a minimum of $50.00 -- whichever is greater).
Example: Palm Beach Co. fee $1850.00
New Gulf Stream fee (507) 925.00
$2775.00
NOTE: The last change in Building Permit fees was when a $31.00 minimum
charge was added in 1987.
The complete Permit Fee schedule has not been changed since 1983.

For failure to obtain a Building Permit:
