FRANCHISE
Representatives of The Home Light and Power Company
appeared before the Board of Trustees and made application
for a franchise to conduct a general electric light and
power business in The Town of Ault, and presented a proposed
ordinance setting forth the terms of said franchise and
asked that the same be introduced, passed and adopted as
provided by law. The representatives of said Company also
produced and presented a Notice of Intention to Apply for
said franchise at the regular meeting of the Board of
Trustees of said Town on January 4th, 1955, which Notice
contained a copy of said proposed ordinance, and also
submitted the affidavit of Harry M. Kurtz, publisher of the
Ault Progress, a weekly newspaper of general circulation
published in the Town of Ault, to the effect that said
Notice of Intention to Apply for such franchise had been
published in the regular weekly editions of said paper on
January 13, 1955 and January 27, 1955.
Said application, proposed ordinance, and notice of
publication, were filed with the Town Clerk.
Thereupon the said proposed ordinance was read in full
by the Town Clerk to the Board.
It was moved by Trustee i' ,./. 09AI and
seconded by Trustee -51 k that the Board of
Trustees desires to further consider the granting of the
rights and privileges sought for in said ordinance and that
the Board of Trustees will so consider the same for passage at the
regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on February 1, 1955;
further, that notice be published in The Ault Progress for a
period of two weeks (three consecutive weekly publications)
as provided by law, setting forth said proposed ordinance and
notifying all persons that such further consideration of
said ordinance will be held at said meeting on February 1,
1955.
