Alex Fitch Hired as Leesburg’s Emergency Management
Coordinator
Fitch will start with the Town on November 28, 2022.
Leesburg, VA (October 18, 2022) – Leesburg Town Manager Kaj
Dentler announced today that Alex Fitch has been hired as the
Town’s new emergency management coordinator.
Fitch has spent 25 years with the City of Fairfax Fire Department,
achieving the rank of Captain. For the last 16 years, he has also
served as a member of the National Capital Region Incident
Management Team. In addition, Fitch has served as an instructor
at the FEMA Emergency Management Institute, and as a
communications cache manager and team member with the
Virginia Department of Emergency Management, all while fulfilling
his duties to the City of Fairfax Fire Department. He is a graduate
of FEMA’s National Emergency Management Basic Academy.
“I am pleased to announce the selection of Alex Fitch as our next
emergency management coordinator,” Dentler said. “I believe
Alex’s extensive emergency management background, both as a firefighter and as someone
who has been a skilled instructor and avid learner of emergency management best practices,
will make him a strong asset to the Town of Leesburg.”
Fitch holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California – San Diego
and a master’s degree in Public Administration from George Mason University. Fitch and his
family live in Gainesville.
