AMENDING CHAPTER I ENTITLED "GENE AL PROVISIONS"
AND CHAPTER 198 ENTITLED "PROPERTY MAINTENANCE"
OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council 0 the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") as follows:
Section 1
§1-17. "Violations and Penalties." sh II be amended as [o11aws:
The amount of the monetary fine 5
Thousand Two Hundred and Fift
Thousand Dollars ($2000).
all be increased from One

Section 2
§198-17. "Notice of Violation.' shan be amended and
supplemented to include the followin sentence at the end of said
section.
However, if the Borough is seeking t impose a fine in an amount
greater than One Thousand Two undred and Fifty Dollars
($1,250), then violators shall be alia ed thirty (30) days to abate
said condition before further action is taken and shall also be
afforded an opportunity for a hearing before a court of competent
jurisdiction for an independent dE ermination concerning the
violation.
Section 3
All ordinances or parts thereof incons' tent with the provision of
this ordinance are hereby repealed lim ted to the extent of any
such inconsistency.
If any section, paragraph, sub-divisior , clause or provision of this
ordinance is adjudged invalid, such ac 'udication shall apply only
to the section, paragraph, sub~division clause or provision so
adjudged and the remainder of this or inance shaH be deemed
valid and effective.
Section 4

This ordinance shall take effect upon i s passage and publication
according to applicable law.

AMENDING CHAPTER 1 ENTITLED "GENERAL
PROVISIONS" AND CHAPTER 193 ENTITLED
"PROPERTY MAINTENANCE" OF THE CODE
OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Coun-
cil of the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") as
follows:
Section 1

The foregoing ordinance was introduced at a meet-
ing of the Council of the Borough of Carteret held
April 20, 2006 when it was adopted on First Read-
ing. The said ordinance will be further considered
