Jeff Stiefermann Pete Fleischmann Lt. Dave Williams Stephanie Scruggs Mark McCarthy Troy Pinkerton Approval of March 09, 2023 Minutes Troy Pinkerton moved to approve the minutes from the March 09, 2023 Board meeting. The motion was seconded by Stephanie Scruggs and passed on a voice vote. Old Business Lt. Stiefermann updated the Board on current staffing levels. There are currently 9 vacancies for Police Officer, one opening in Communications, one Animial Control Officer vacancy, and for a full time Records Clerk. A part time Records Clerk has been hired. Chief Wilde gave an update on the promotional process. As result of the bidding process a contract has been awarded to the IACP, who is currently developing a test based on the Department’s requirements. When the test is developed and a test date set the Board will be notified so arrangements for a proctor can be made. New Business Lieutenant Stiefermann said three police officer applicants tested on April 10 and all passed the written test. Additionally one applicant who is already POST certified is going through the selection process. The application process for full time Records Clerk and Communications Operator have been re- opened, and oral boards for Animal Control will be held next week for the remaining position(s). One Animal Control Officer has been hired and began duties on April 10. A part time Records Clerk has also been hired. The Board selected Dr. Paul Dupuis as Chairman for the upcoming year on a unanamious voice vote. The next meeting date was set for May 11, 2023 following police officer applicant testing on on May 8. Begin Closed Session Stacey Backues moved to go into a closed session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021. The motion was seconded by Mark McCarthy. The motion passed with a roll call vote as follows: McCarthy-yes Backues-yes Fleischmann-yes Scruggs-yes Dupuis-yes Pinkerton-yes End Closed Session Mark McCarthy moved to come out of closed session. The motion was seconded by Stacey Backues and passed by the following roll call vote: McCarthy-yes Backues-yes Fleischmann-yes Scruggs-yes Dupuis-yes Pinkerton-yes Other Business Stacey Backues advised that the annual Jefferson Bank BBQ to honor law enforcement, EMS and fire personnel will be held May 3rd at the PD. Any Board members who wish to assist are welcome. Chief Wilde informed the Board that a C.O.P.S. grant was being sought in relation to pursuing a paid intern program with Lincoln University. The grant, if received, would allow participants to earn a stipend toward their education while gaining first hand exposure to the acutalities of a career in law enforcement. Adjournment Mark McCarty moved to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Stacey Backues. The motion passed on a voice vote. Meeting was adjourned at 12:40 pm.
