Police Personnel Board
Date: June 8, 2023
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m.

Approval of Previous Meetings Minutes
Stacey Backues moved to approve the minutes from the May 11, 2023, Board meeting. The motion
was seconded by Stephanie Scruggs and passed on a voice vote.
Old Business
There was 1 Application for Communications progressing through the process starting back in May.
The Department conducted 1 interview for the position of Animal Control.
The Department hired a Police Information Clerk that will start June 5.
New Business
Lieutenant Stiefermann briefed the Board on the status of the Department’s current staffing:
There are currently 6 Police Officer vacancies out of an authorized strength of 91 commissioned
officers.
2 people are currently progressing through the hiring/training process.
Other notes:
The Communications section currently has 1 vacancy out of an authorized strength of 20.
The Animal Control section currently has 1 vacancy.
There were 7 applications for Communications Operator received this month.
June 5th, we had 4 candidates for Police Officer sit for written test, 3 passed.
Other Business
Kemp Shoun has submitted a letter of resignation to the Police Personnel Board. Motion to accept the
resignation was made by Pete Fleischmann and a 2nd by Stacey Backues. Motion passed by voice vote.
The Board will be seeking interested volunteer applications to replace the vacancy on the PPB.

Begin Closed Session
Pete Fleischmann moved to go into a closed session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021.
The motion was seconded by Stacey Backues. The motion passed with a roll call vote as follows:

Stephanie Scruggs moved to come out of closed session.
The motion was seconded by Stacy Backues and passed by the following roll call vote as follows:

Adjournment
Pete Fleischmann moved to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Stephanie Scruggs. The
motion passed on a voice vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
