Public Orals:
Corinne Thornburg -1 have been asked to inform the council that the water in the pool is cold and has not
been repaired. The boiler is out; it was supposed to be repaired and it has not been. They are still taking cold
showers.
Board Orals:
Lorene Reed - I have received several written concerns about the cooling station. The seniors do not like
signing for a bottle of water. In the future no one has to sign. It was changed. The reason we were signing
for the water is because the water was getting away from us. In two days we went through eight cases of
water and by signing we were trying to monitor the abuse. We have to keep in mind that we are not
mandated to have a cooling station. We have it as a courtesy service to the Senior Center on hot days. Keep
in mind that most of us want water. The other concern has to do with the food giveaway. The good thing
about the written concerns was that it also included a suggestion on how to improve the distribution. The
parking is terrible, that day a lot of seniors left because of the food distribution. It took up all the parking.
Parking is an issue we are currently trying to work on. AI Kilts had surgery recently; he is at Country Villa
Convalescent Hospital recuperating. For a period of time they did not want visitors, now they do want
visitors to go by. Everyone is now welcome to visit Mr, Kilts if you have the opportunity, because he wants
to see his friends.
Pamela Taylor - No Comment.
Barbara Battle-No Comment.
D. Joyce Taylor - No Comment
Chair Paulette Bradley -There has been a breach going on in this center. This facility is designed and open
for members 55 years and older. The City provides a youth program across the park. There are churches in
the area that have been providing summer programs for young children. Please stop bringing your
grandchildren to this facility, this is not a childcare center. This is a facility that the Seniors worked long
and hard for, for the seniors. Those of you that have forgotten the City built the Youth Center before they
allowed us to have this building. So those of you who are babysitting your grandchildren or you are having
difficulty finding programs for them to fill their summer, it is your responsibility to seek out places. Some
churches have free services for young people to come to if you are unable to pay for the programs that the
City provides at the Youth Center. Please stop bringing your children up here. Management vvil! ask you to
take them away.
Ilu Johnson -Fran would like to know if we can have a sign language interpreter at the Senior Advisory
Council meeting so she can have an understanding of whaYs going on?
Chair Paulette Bradley - We have to put in a two-week notice with Perry Brents so it can be approved. Can
you please inform her llu?
Adjournment: Member Barbara Battle made a motion to adjourn, 2"d by Member Lorene Reed. By
unanimous consent the meeting adjourned at 12:40 p.m.
