A quorum was present.The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the Thomas JeffersonRoom, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,Missouri.Approval of the Minutes:A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the June 15,2023 meeting by Dana DeWeese,Jeanette Dulle seconded. Minutes were approved.Old Business:Rebecca Gordon did an overview of the Cemetery Open House for 2023 and what the purpose is for theevent. She explained why we are doing this event to promote community awareness of the history ofthe cemeteries. Nancy Thompson discussed how the event was done in 2016 and 2018. David Grellnerdistributed the supply list and flyer/brochure that was used at the previous cemetery events. Rebeccaexplained the Facebook link she created and how it can be used to promote the Cemetery Open House.Dana DeWeese and Rebecca Gordon discussed individuals who can help support the event includinglocal funeral home directors. They talked about sponsorships from these individuals and possibly othercommunity businesses.Discussion occurred between board members and guest regarding Reid Millard carriage that waspresent at the last event and other items such as his military type vehicle that could help promote the event and add interest. Rebecca brought up the subject on what Individuals we want to represent, howmany we want to represent, and how many people per station that may be needed. Nancy Thompsonexplained the route of the previous tours and the challenges some of the interred Individual's locationentailed, including Professor Damel who is buried in the far corner of the Old City Cemetery.Board members and guest discussed advertising for the Cemetery Open House and using the brochurelike a passport for attendees to encourage each grave site is visited. Also, advertisement of supporterswas discussed to place in the brochure.Other items that were discussed regarding the Cemetery Open House were bathroom accessibility(possibly use National Cemetery bathrooms), having music at the event, supply items such ascommunication devices between members, tables, tents, water bottles, etc, and discussion on certaingrave sites such as the State of Missouri lot and help from organizations that can help withinterpretation of the interred individuals such as Historic City of Jefferson, Daughters of the AmericanRevolution, and Sons of the Union Veterans.Rebecca Gordon discussed with the group on providing a list of volunteers for the next meeting to helpwith the event.New Business:There was no new business at this time.Other Topics and Issues:The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Thursday August 17, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in theThomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.Adjournment:With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.Respectfully submitted.David Grellner
