1. Introductions:
Chairman Rycyk called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m., and a quorum was
present. Each of the commission members introduced their selves as they
welcomed the new City Council Liaison, Mark Schwartz.
2. Adoption of the agenda:
With a couple of errors on last meeting’s agenda, Grant Shorthose moved
and Derek Thomas seconded to adopt the agenda, motion carried.
3. Approval of the minutes:
With a couple of corrected errors on last meeting’s minutes, Mr. Derek
Thomas made a motion for the acceptance of the March 7, 2023 minutes. Mr.
Terry Rackers seconded the motion; all members were in favor of motion

6. Scheduled Reports:
a) Airport Manager’s Report
Mr. Bowers advised that the airport’s traffic counts are up. As of May 31st,
the airport is at 17,665 as of May 31st. He also explained the jet operation
is just shy of 1,500 which put the airport at 8% of jet operation, in addition
the average thus far in the year is 275 jet operations putting them up at
least 35 more operations more than last year. As of right now Mr. Bowers
explained they are at 78 based aircraft. Mr. Bowers also included
information about the upcoming event “Join the Flight” as a B-25 will be
arriving Monday, June 29th through Sunday, July 2nd and will be selling
rides and will be focusing on the hours during the morning and finishing up
around 2:00p.m. so each individual has the opportunity to look at the B -25
up close. His main concern for this event is the outsider’s safety, while
working what the barricading and will look like. He also gave more
information of where be B-25 will be located. Mr. Grant Shorthose asked a
question regarding if the Turf Side Step was being in the works, but Mr.
Bowers stated that it is still being looked over the by the FAA.
b) FBO Report
Mr. Shorthose advised that they have a new building on order to build a
new hanger that could potentially house a G-4, Challenger, or a Falcon.
He stated that the airport is growing and as of right now they are now
pushing almost 80 airplanes at the airport, he added that l arge corporate
aviation will mostly be put in the hanger. There will be a meeting with Britt
Smith; Public Works Operations Manager, Eric Bowers: Airport Manager,
Matt Kreyling: Planning and Protective Services Building Manager, as well
as Jason Turner: Fire Department, to get information of finding out where
the most ideal location is for this hanger to be placed. He also added that
there have been new instructors added into the program- Noah, Jack, and
Jimmy. He is not needing instructors at this time.
c) Staff Liaison Report
Not present.
d) City Council Report
Councilman Schwartz mentioned that their first budget kickoff meeting
tonight (June 12, 2023) with the finance committee starting at 5:30 P.M.
He also believes that there will be an indefinite change in budget with the
new mayor. Grant Shorthose added in that there has been plans since
2019 that there would be reconstruction of the parking lot at the airport,
and he wanting to know if the airport was on the list to have these
changes happen. Mr. Schwartz shows his interests in making an effort of
taking action in the Airport’s funding.

10. Next Meeting Date
Frank Rycyk had a concern of the next scheduled meeting falling on Labor
Day. The members decided to set the meeting for September 11, 2023 at
10:30 a.m.
11. Adjourn
Mr. Terry Rackers moved and was seconded by Mr. Derek Thomas to
adjourn the meeting at 11:20 a.m., motion carried.
