HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 97-35881 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -3588 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY WITH REGARD TO THE FUNDING OF THE FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY WHEREAS, the City of Temple City does not now provide its own fire and emergency medical services; and WHEREAS, such fire service has been provided by the County of Los Angeles, by a Fire Suppression Benefit Assessment; and WHEREAS, such assessment funding has been eliminated by the provisions of Proposition 218 adopted November 4, 1997; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to fmd an alternate funding source or lose all fire and emergency medical protection for the City; and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Fire Protection District has forwarded its proposal of Proposition "E" on the June 3, 1997 ballot; and WHEREAS, the City Council fmds that Proposition "E" is an acceptable alternate method of funding these vital services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1. This City Council endorses Proposition "E" on the June 3, 1997 ballot as necessary for the provision of essential fire and emergency medical services within the City. SECTION 2. This resolution together with any supporting or opposing materials received by the City Council on or before April 30, shall be generally distributed to all residents. APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 15th day of April 1997.
