HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 97-35951 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -3595 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 1485 WHICH IMPOSES CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS ON THE SAN GABRIEL COUNTY WATER DISTRICT WITH REGARD TO WATER FACILITY CONSTRUCTION IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF SAN MARINO HIGH SCHOOL WHEREAS, the State Legislature is considering enacting Assembly Bill 1485; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1485 fmds and declares that the San Marino High School is located near the Raymond Hill earthquake fault; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1485 prohibits the San Gabriel County Water District from enlarging or constructing any water storage facility that is uphill of and within 1,000 feet of the high school unless both the state's Division of Mines and Geology determine that the facility does not pose a risk to the school; and NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the California State Legislature should not intervene with supporting nor opposing legislation with regard to the location or relocation of the water storage facility and allow the City of San Marino, San Marino Unified School District and the San Gabriel County Water District to effect an amicable resolution. SECTION 2. The City of Temple City does hereby oppose approval by the State Legislature of Assembly Bill 1485. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the pa.Gsge and adoption of this resolution. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED on this 6th day of May, 1997.
