HomeMy Public PortalAbout2021-05-04 Q-AFrom Super Grover To CRC Sent Tuesday, May 4, 2021 8:51 PM QUESTIONS Elodia Thomas 06:13 PM Bruce and I second everything Vinnie has stated regarding the election of the President of the TC - the voters elect the President directly! Elodia Thomas 06:17 PM All TC's and the President should be accountable to the people and serve two year terms. Elodia Thomas 06:26 PM The TC President is not a homeroom monitor position to be rotated every two years. A Deputy Town Manager Is to be hired, a 311 number is under review, the bridge between the SC, TC, and TM is critical, we are discussing extra resources for the TC. Salary should not be attached to charter and warrants further examination. Elodia Thomas 06:28 PM The President is "elected by the people"! Elodia Thomas 06:39 PM Point to the Marathon Bombers, the poles down on Arsenal Street, Covid-19, the filming of Patriot's Day and more. The TC President should be the spokesperson to our community. She/he is elected by the community, has the beat of the streets, brings heart, perspective, and info to the community. Elodia Thomas 06:53 PM To Mike Ward - can we get some updates on TC salaries plus benefits for comparable cities with our budget? The info provided early on was old. This should not be part of the Charter but needs to be addressed. Cost of living increases should be structured into an ordinance. Watertown is on an intense redevelopment and school building run. Much of this will calm down with a few years. The TC needs more admin support for minutes and financial analysis support. A national emergency has been declared to cope with the pandemic and the upheaval that this pandemic has only begun to bring into our lives and into this community. As I listen to my friends, neighbors, and certain town employees, what I hear is rapidly growing expressions of unease, confusion, and frustration. In Charlie Baker, we are fo Marcy Murninghan 08:38 PM Thanks, Anne. I see only two or three comments here: Eric's, Janis, and yours. Very restricted. Didn't see the 24. Marcy Murninghan 08:39 PM @Anne @Janis: I don't know why. I know there are other comments, but I don't see them. I think it's because the Zoom entry point is through Vinny. ANSWERED QUESTIONS Eric Kemp -Benedict 06:40 PM I appreciate Councilor Kounelis' comments. However, the point I've heard raised about a higher salary is not that people are looking for a part-time job, but that the current very low stipend sharply limits who can possibly serve. It doesn't matter how committed they are.
