No. 05-357 Date of Adoption December 1, 2005 SUPPORTING THE COUNTY-MUNICIPAL STRATEGIC PLAN WHEREAS, the County and Municipalities of Middlesex have joined to produce a Strategic Plan intended to guide future development through the management and location of future infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the Strategic Plan is intended to be consistent with and reflect the principals of the State Development and Redevelopment Guide Plan and generally to promote the safety and welfare of the County's citizens through good planning; and WHEREAS, the Strategic Plan divides the County into seven Strategic Planning Areas, and these seven areas have been put into three Groups; and WHEREAS, Group I of these three Groups consists of the Arthur Kill & Raritan River & Bay and also of the Metropark Strategic Planning Areas; and WHEREAS, the constituent municipalities of Group I are Carteret, Edison, Metuchen, Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Sayreville, South Amboy and Woodbridge; and WHEREAS, the County and the constituent municipalities of Group I have agreed to submit that portion of the Strategic Plan that addresses the Group I region to the New Jersey State Planning Commission and to the New Jersey Office of Smart Growth for designation as an Endorsed Plan under the State rules governing such a designation; and WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret finds the Strategic Plan consistent with its own plans and regulations and wishes to achieve Endorsed Plan status for it to achieve a more integrated approach to managing development in the region and to be eligible for the State benefits that accrue to Endorsed Plan status. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Borough of Carteret supports the County - Municipal Strategic Plan and concurs with petitioning the State Planning Commission and the Office of Smart Growth to grant it status as an Endorsed Plan.
