Leesburg Personal Property Tax Due Date Extended to June 19,
2018
Extension will allow four weeks from the date bills are mailed for taxpayers to
make payments without penalty.
Leesburg, VA (March 28, 2018) – The Leesburg Town Council changed the due date for 2018
town personal property tax payments from Monday, May 7, 2018, to Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
The Town of Leesburg receives vehicle ownership and property assessments from the Loudoun
County Commissioner of the Revenue. Loudoun County recently converted to a new financial
management system. In order to process the new data transfer files, the Department of
Finance and Administrative Services was required to develop new custom software, a process
that has taken longer than planned. As a result, personal property tax bills are expected to be
mailed the week of May 14, 2018, six weeks later than usual.
While state code requires a minimum of two weeks from the date property tax bills are mailed
for taxpayers to pay without penalty, the Town of Leesburg traditionally has allowed four
weeks. In keeping with that tradition, the due date has been extended accordingly.
