MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 7, 1994
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met for the annual Truth in
Taxation hearing on December 7, 1994 at 7:00 in the City Hall
Council Chambers with Acting Mayor Ann Thies presiding.
Present: John Ferris, James Johnson, Ann Thies and Philip
Zietlow.
Absent: Mayor Anne Theis.
Also Present: Clerk -Treasurer Jeff Karlson
1. TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING
Acting Mayor Thies said the purpose of the public hearing was to
hear comments on the City's proposed 1995 budget and on the amount
of property taxes the City was proposing to collect to pay for the
costs of services the City would provide in 1995.
Jeff Karlson showed the comparison between the 1995 General Fund
budget with the 1994 budget.

Karlson said the amount of property taxes which would need to be
collected to pay for services in 1995 would be $794,494. After
subtracting the fiscal disparities contribution to the City, the
City's net levy would be 772,259.
John Ferris pointed out that the City's tax rate would be reduced
from 15.27% in 1994 to 14.57% for payable 1995 taxes due to a
significant increase in the City's taxable tax capacity.
Phil Zietlow said Medina's tax rate would be the third lowest in
Hennepin County behind only Deephaven and Woodland.
Ann Thies closed the public hearing at 7:17 p.m.

Moved by Zietlow, seconded by Ferris, to adjourn the meeting at
7:17 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
