Leesburg, VA (April 30, 2018) – The 11th annual Get Smart! 5K Run will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Leesburg, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The event is a flat course, UST&F sanctioned race that begins and ends at Smart’s Mill Middle School (850 North King Street.) There will be a free quarter-mile Fun Run that begins after the start of the 5K and before the announcement of awards. All proceeds from the Get Smart! 5K Stampede benefit the Smart’s Mill Middle School PTA funding for educational programs, after school clubs, and community outreach programs . Online registration with PR Races closes on May 2, 2018. The top three overall male and female runners will receive awards. Additional awards will be given to the top male and female finishers in each age group as well as the top male and female Smart’s Mill students in each grade level. Raffle prizes will be drawn during post-race activities. Drivers should expect delays due to the race. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., Catoctin Circle NE, from Battlefield Parkway to Marshall Drive, will be closed. The road will reopen as soon as all runners have cleared the roadway, at approximately 9:00 a.m. # # #
