PRESENTATIONS FROM THE GALLERY ON OTHER TOPICS
David Taylor expressed his disappointment in how he was treated when stopped by the Cole
County Sheriff’s Department for not having his child in a car seat. He requested a resolution
from the City to support him. He become very loud and exceeded the three minutes allowed.
J. Don Salcedo spoke representing the local AARP community. They are concerned about
requiring smart phones to pay to park at City parking meters. Britt Smith said the bill that
passed tonight did not make any changes to the current methods of paying for parking which
include both paying by app and paying with change. If the City moves to app only, it would be
much further down the line, and would have to go through a public process first.
Patrick Casey, 1825 Rolling Hills Dr spoke on his concerns with speeding in his
neighborhood. The idea of speed bumps was brought up at the Transportation & Traffic
Commission meeting. He read in the News Tribune newspaper, the item was being moved
forward to tonight’s City Council meeting. This was not the case. Britt Smith took Mr. Casey’s
contact information and told him he would send him the meeting schedule for upcoming
Public Works & Planning Committee meetings. The topic will likely be brought up at the
January Public W orks & Planning meeting.
