Northern Virginia Transportation Authority Includes Three
Leesburg Interchanges in Six Year Program
Town of Leesburg officials encourage residents to submit comments or attend
the May 10 public hearing in support of funding for the interchanges.
Leesburg, VA (April 30, 2018) – On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the Northern Virginia
Transportation Authority (NVTA) will hold an open house and public hearing on Thursday, May
10, 2018, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event will be at the NVTA offices, 3040 Williams Drive,
Fairfax, Virginia.
On April 12, the NVTA released its list of 60 projects under consideration for funding in their FY
2018-2023 Six Year Program. Three interchanges in Leesburg are included on the list of
candidate projects. The Route 7/Battlefield Parkway interchange is ranked 21st out of 60
projects, the highest of the three Leesburg projects. The Route 15 Bypass/Battlefield
interchange is ranked 39th and the Route 15 Bypass/Edwards Ferry Road interchange is ranked
57th.
The Town of Leesburg has requested $25 million in funding from NVTA for construction of the
Route 7/Battlefield Parkway interchange. The NVTA previously awarded $33 million to the
project which is currently in design by VDOT. On April 24, 2018, the Leesburg Town Council
endorsed the major design elements for the interchange.
Town officials encourage members of the public to attend the NVTA open house and public
hearing on May 10 and provide feedback in support of the Route 7/Battlefield Parkway
interchange. If not able to attend the meeting, residents can submit comments via email to
SYPcomment@TheNoVaAuthority.org.
