A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A DOWNTOWN VISITOR CENTER
WHEREAS, the visiting public will be more conveniently
served by having a centralized location for obtaining information
on activities and attractions in Southeast Utah; and
WHEREAS, the development of a Visitor Information
Center/Plaza at the corner of Main and Center Streets in Moab
will greatly enhance property values and sales tax collections in
the immediate vicinity; and
WHEREAS, the Grand County Travel Council will participate as
a partner along with the Bureau of Land Management, the National
Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Canyonlands
Natural History Association in the operation of the Visitor
Information Center/Plaza,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Moab City
Council, that the City of Moab supports the concept of the
development by Grand County of the proposed Visitor Information
Center/Plaza on the corner of Main and Center Streets in Moab,
and that the City of Moab, upon completion of construction,
hereby agrees to perform day-to-day maintenance of the Plaza
grounds and vehicle parking areas so long as the same may be done
with cost neutral to the City, if at all possible.

the Governing Body of Moab City Council this 16th day of
April , A.D., 1991.
