Brush, the meeting war adjourned nt A:15 ...., Village Clerk March 28, 1973 :larch 31, 1973 The Council cf Bel Harbour tillage met Saturday, March 31, 1973 at 9:30A.M. in the Village Hall.. Present. Messrs. Beatty, Brush, rrintup, Taplin and Villeneuve Aisu present were Fred t'. Maley, Village Manager.; Mary T, wetterer, Village Clerk; and Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney. On motion of ar. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Taplin, the minutea of the previous meetings of February 24th, March 15th, March 22nd, and March 28th, 1973 were approved as submitted. Tars. Irene toldstein of the Bay Harbor Islands Elementary School asked that Bal Harbour contribute 8500.00 toward the air conditioning of their ca.fe- torium. Mr. Anderson, advised the Council thrt they do not have the authority to pledge this money, but he would be glad to investigate how other communities authorize such an expenditure. Mr. Louis Brandt of the Regency Spa, who was present in the audience, said that the regency would be happy to contribute the 500.00 to the F.T.A. Mr.roward Seitlin, attorney for the Sutton Carlton Apartments, requested a variance for a ten by fourteen font: sign to be placed on the property for ninety days, advertising the sale of the condominiums. 0n motion of. Mr. Villeneuve, seconded by Mr. Taplin, and voted the request o:aa denied. Mr. tarry Cliff, speaking for the Bal Barbour Resort Assnciation, explained to the Council some of the demands the Metro Fire Pepartment is making to bring their buildings up to the present Fire Code which was not in existence when the buildings were constructed. He asked that the Council use their influence with the Metro officials to intercede for the oceanfront property owners. After discussion it was the opinion cf the. Council that they could take no formal action, but that: Mr. Maley should meet with the Dade County Fire nepartment officials, to see if they could resolve this problem. A request from the Dade County Board of Public Instruction for funds from our Federal Revenue Sharing monies for use on cutside school services, was denied on motion of Mr. Taplin, seccnded by Mr. Beatty and voted. On motion of Yr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Taplin, and voted there was no action taken on the request of the City of North Meami to support their efforts to construct recreation facilities on their property at Interama. Mr. Maley said that the Village had the eritten approval of the U.S.Army iT>rps of rnvit:eers, the State of Florida, and Dade County to sign the contracts forthe beach restoration. project. Mr. von (even said the contract with Hardaway Contracting Company was ready to be signed for the jetty construction, and the contract with Standard Dredging for the balance of the work would be ready by April 14, 1973. On motion of Mt. Taplin, seconded by Mr. Brush and unanimously voted Mayor Rale Printup and Village Clerk Mary Wetterer were authorized to sign the contract with Hardaway Contracting Company in the amount of $1,333,525.00. Mayor Printup explained that the proposed zoning ordinance was not ready for reading at this meeting, but would be read Aril 14, 1973. Mr. Proby, representing the Balmoral property asked if they could have some idea on whet will be in the new ordinance. Mr. Errol Adele of Barton-Aschman, Inc. reviewed their recommendations for the Council Mr. Proby and Mr. Sibley were promised copies of the tentative ordinance as soon as they are available. Mr. Maley told the Council that Dal Barbour Village was one of the hundred cities in the United States selected for a special census to be taken during the month of April for Federal Revenue Sharing purposes.
