VDOT Awards Town $8.59 Million Towards Traffic
Improvements
The awarded projects include Evergreen Mill Road Widening, Morven Park Road
Improvements, and East Market Street/Battlefield Interchange.
Leesburg, VA (6/22/2018) – At its June 20th meeting, the Commonwealth Transportation Board
(CTB) took action on several items impacting programs managed by the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) Local Assistance Division. Three applications for the Town of Leesburg
were approved. They included:
Evergreen Mill Road Widening - $3 million
Morven Park Road Improvements - $1 million
East Market Street / Battlefield Parkway Interchange - $4,591,307
“The three projects that VDOT awarded funding to are all important elements of the Town’s efforts to
improve safety and reduce congestion in Leesburg,” said Capital Projects Manager Tom Brandon. “The
receipt of Revenue Sharing funds for the projects will ensure that these projects are fully funded and will
remain on schedule.”
The CTB awards funding through the Revenue Sharing program on a bi-annual basis. The awarded
projects are for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. A total of $8.59 million was awarded to the Leesburg
projects. To be awarded revenue sharing funds, localities must provide a one hundred percent match from
local funding sources
VDOT’s Local Assistance Program provides guidance and assistance to localities in administering
roadway improvement projects with VDOT and/or Federal Highway Administration funding. More
information on the Local Assistance Program and VDOT’s Local Assistance Division, including a
complete list of projects statewide receiving Revenue Sharing funds can be found at
