Cemetery Resources Board Meeting

Rebecca Gordon called the meeting to order. A quorum was present.
The Cemetery Resources Board met on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson
Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the August 17,2023 meeting by Dana DeWeese,
Jeanette Dulle seconded. Minutes were approved.
Old Business:
Rebecca Gordon handed out the flyer for the Cemetery Walking Tour to board members and asked
them to review and approve the flyer. She stated upon approval of the flyer, advertising will begin on
the cemetery Facebook page. Discussion occurred between members regarding the distribution of the
flyers to the community. Rebecca explained the path of the walking tour and where the docents will be
set up. A pre-meeting for volunteers and the docents was scheduled for Friday, October 13,2023 at
9:00 a.m. at City Hall to go over paperwork and then proceed to the cemetery for a walk through.
Advertisement of the event was discussed with ideas about press from the newspaper, radio spots,
facebook, festival such as Porchfest, and update the City Council at its next meeting on October 2, 2023.
Board members discussed what is needed for the event such as tents, tables, chairs, easels, foam
boards, and other items to make the event successful. Discussion occurred between Dana DeWeese and
Jeanette Dulle on music and how to proceed.
New Business:
David Grellner gave an update regarding the Longview Cemetery sign that was damaged last month in a
storm. He stated the Parks and Recreation Department is going to build a new sign for Longview
Cemetery. He also stated tree work will be occurring on the west side of Old City Cemetery along
Chestnut Street to remove a dangerous tree and cut limbs hanging close to power lines.
Other Topics and Issues:
The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Friday, November 17, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Thomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
