HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 99-37491 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 99 -3749 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY SUPPORTING SB 742 (BRULTE) RELATIVE TO IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECORDS WHEREAS, the protection of local government records is a priority for jurisdictions throughout California; and WHEREAS, a committee of the City Clerks Association of California (CCAC) has developed guidelines for the retention of local government records which reflect minimum legal requirements; and WHEREAS, the guidelines are not intended to replace review by local jurisdictions as to their administrative, operational, and historical needs; and WHEREAS, the Secretary of State through his Archives Division has agreed to maintain and administer the guidelines on an on -going basis to assure their availability and accuracy as a resource; and WHEREAS, the guidelines will provide direction and serve as a resource without imposing costly mandates; and WHEREAS, SB 742 was introduced in February 1999 by Senator Jim Brulte and is sponsored by the City Clerks Association of California; and NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City does resolve to endorse and support Senate Bill 742 and encourage its favorable consideration and passage by members of the California legislature. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on this 18th day of May, 1999.
