AS TO THE EXPENDITURE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX
ON PROJECTS APPROVED AS PART OF THE CITY’S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM AND THE APPROPRIATE BALLOT REFERENDUM
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Tybee Island is a duly incorporated municipality existing in the State of Georgia, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tybee Island has considered and evaluated its needed expenditures with respect to authorized capital improvement projects with respect to the special 1% sales and
use tax being imposed pursuant to an election held in Chatham County on September 19, 2006; and
WHEREAS, one of the purposes of the authorized uses of the Special Purpose Local Option Sale Tax proceeds includes public safety facilities and equipment, as well as improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tybee Island’s exhibit to the Intergovernmental Agreement between Chatham County and the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah provided for the use of SPLOST
proceeds included City of Tybee Island’s projects including Tybee beach improvements, public safety facility, fire equipment, water/sewer improvements, green space, and qualifying debt
retirement and, by note, projects from the City’s adopted capital improvement program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tybee Island has determined that an appropriate use of the proceeds of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax includes the public safety facility of which expansion
of fire station bays is included or a portion thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tybee Island has determined that public safety needs necessitate an expansion of the fire station facility of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Tybee Island in open meeting duly assembled that:
The City may spend up to $65,000.00 from anticipated SPLOST proceeds to improve the public safety facility/fire station for a one bay addition and appropriate appurtenances in order
to meet public safety needs.
All resolutions or parts of resolutions, if any, in conflict herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed.
