Local Pups Invited to Swim in AV Symington Pool
The annual dog swim will take place on Saturday, September 8.
Leesburg, VA (August 31, 2018) – On Saturday, September 8, Ida Lee Park will hold its 10th
annual Dog Swim at AV Symington Aquatic Center. The pool will be open for the dog -only swim
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to Programs and Fitness Manager Lisa
Hamaker, the event has become a popular trend.
“Although we can’t cater to them at the pool when it
is open for the season, allowing our furry friends to
have some fun at AV Symington as we wrap up
summer is a great way to acknowledge their presence
in our community,” said Hamaker. “This event allows
them that opportunity in a safe, enclosed area
allowing them to not only swim off-leash but to play
with other dogs.”
Dog handlers must be 16 years or older and are
limited to two dogs each. All dogs must be at least 6
months old, legally licensed, vaccinated, and wearing
a visible dog license. All exits will be gated and a
veterinarian will be on site as a precaution.
Children 9 years old and younger will need to remain in the snack area of the pool deck. No
food will be allowed.
The fee is $5.00 per dog, payable at the front entrance. Registration is currently available
online through WebTrac or by visiting the front desk at Ida Lee Recreation Center. Walk -up
registration on the day of the event is welcome as well. For more info rmation, please visit
