COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
ORDINANCE NO.58-2014
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF
A GRANT FROM BLOOMBERG PHILANTHROPIES
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any
documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any
other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive
administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the
legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any
monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, A Foundation known as Bloomberg Philanthropies has grant funding available
through its Public Art Challenge Grant Program and if said funds are awarded to the
City, the Department of Metropolitan Development wishes to use the grant to fund a
capital art project that is to be determined through a community committee; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Department of Metropolitan Development has submitted or
will submit a grant application to obtain funds for a capital art project to be
determined through a community committee; and
WHEREAS, No local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
The City of Richmond Department of Metropolitan Development has submitted or will
submit, as authorized by IC 36-1-4-10, a grant application to Bloomberg
Philanthropies.
2. The City of Richmond Department of Metropolitan Development is authorized to
accept said grant funding in an amount up to One Million Dollars and Zero Cents
($1,000,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded, shall be appropriated to fund a capital art project to be
determined through a community committee.
