Night-time Storm Sewer Inlet Repairs in Downtown Leesburg
Delayed to Week of September 23, 2018
Work rescheduled for September 23 through 28, due to forecast of heavy rain.
Leesburg, VA (September 17, 2018) – Repair work to the storm sewer drop inlet on the
northwest corner of King Street and Market Street has been delayed by a week, due to the
forecast of heavy rain. The work will take place at night during the week of September 23,
2018.
West Market Street, from King Street to Wirt Street, will be closed to westbound through-traffic
from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. each night beginning on Sunday evening, September 23, through
Friday morning, September 28.
Eastbound traffic will not be affected. Businesses on the north side of West Market Street will
have access to their businesses, but may experience some slight delays.
Once the new concrete is poured Jersey barriers will placed around the inlet for several days to
allow the concrete to cure. During this time, large vehicles traveling southbound on King Street
will not be able to turn right onto West Market Street.
The work schedule is subject to delays for inclement weather or mechanical difficulties. Any
changes will be posted to the Town’s website (www.leesburgva.gov). For more information,
please contact Charles Monger at 703-737-7051 or cmonger@leesburgva.gov.
