I have revisited 703 Second Avenue and offer the following:
1. The end portion of the sidewalk near the picket fence may be replaced with concrete because it is less than 50%
of the total sidewalk.The new concrete pour must not exceed the footprint (outline) of the existing area. See
photos 005 and 004.This work may be added to permit 12-0517. Please let me know the cost of the project. The
previous permit fee of$50 was based on $900 of work. The permit fee will be recalculated based on the total
cost of the fencing and the sidewalk concrete. The fee schedule is$50 on the first$1,000 of cost plus$5 for each
addition $1,000 or portion thereof. Credit card payment over the phone is available.The permit placard must be
posted while the work is occurring.
2. Under the current ordinance only a permeable product may be used in the area between the existing driveway
and the pavement of the street. See photo 001. Please apply for a permit and include an installation and
material description if you would like to apply for this project.
3. The area in front of the picket fence is city right-of-way. See photo 004. Sodding or other vegetative plantings
are encouraged to stabilize the soil. Stone is not allowed. Pavers or some other permeable product may be used
in an area not to exceed 25-feet including the existing driveway width. A driveway permit is required (see item 2
above). Your suggestion of pine straw would not be in violation unless it is transported by rain events into the
city's stormwater system.
