U.S. State Department Featured at HUBZone Contractor Chat
on November 5, 2018 at the Mason Enterprise Center in
Leesburg
Small federal contractors interested in learning about how to do business with
the U.S. Department of State are invited to attend.
Leesburg, VA (October 31, 2018) – In collaboration with the Town of Leesburg’s Economic
Development Office, the Mason Enterprise Center in Leesburg will hold its next Contractor Chat
session on Monday, November 5, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at 202 Church Street SE in
downtown Leesburg. This no-cost event is open to all, but particularly of value to small
government contractors. Lunch will be provided, sponsored by Streamline Government
Contracts (www.streamlinegovcon.com).
This month’s event will feature Rich Vinnacombe, Deputy Director of the U.S. State
Department’s Small Business Office, and Anna Urman, Senior Procurement Analyst with the
U.S. State Department. In FY 2018, the U.S. State Department met and exceeded all its small
business and socioeconomic contracting goals. Come find out how your company might be one
of those companies helping the State Department meet its goals in coming years. Our
presenters will share key information about how small contractors can position themselves to
win work with the department. Attendees should come prepared with questions, since this will
be an interactive session.
The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) ensures that all legislatively
specified categories of small businesses in prime contracts and subcontracts are effectively
utilized to the maximum extent possible. This team champions U.S. small business interests in
the department's acquisition process and provides training and counseling about doing
business with the State Department in order to expand the base of small business firms selling
to the department.
After the session, Mr. Vinnacombe and Ms. Urman will have match-making appointments with
interested companies. To sign up for an appointment contact the Mason Enterprise Center at
703-466-0466 or email mec20175@gmu.edu (reference the State Department event).
The Contract Chat series provides insight into successful small contractors, large prime
contractors, reps from government agencies, and other resources. On a regular basis, the
program features a contractor or resource person who shares strategies, tips a nd tricks to grow
your government contracting business successfully. This event is also a great venue to meet
new companies to team and partner with. To RSVP, visit https://www.meetup.com/Federal-
Contractors-Loudoun/events/255868243/.
A program of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the HUBZone program helps small
businesses gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities while increasing
employment opportunities in economically distressed areas.
