ALSO PRESENT, PLANNING AND ZONING ADMINISTRATOR LOREN KOHNEN AND PLANNING AND ZONING ASSISTANT SANDIE LARSON. ABSENT: DECKER VELIE, CHRIS CROSBY, SUSIE MACKAY AND CAROLYN SMITH. 1. MINUTES OF OCTOBER 8, 1996 MOVED BY ANNE HEIDEMAN AND SECONDED BY BRUCE WORKMAN TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES AS PRESENTED. MOTION PASSED. 2. JOHN POLKER AMERICAN LEGION POST #394 - 75 HAMEL ROAD - FRONT SET -BACK VARIANCE - 7:39 P.M. Loren Kohnen read his memo to the planning commission and put up overheads of the site and the proposed plan for shelter by the front step He said the purpose was to enclose the front step. Frank Miqnone that the steps are currently out in the open. Anne Heideman said yes, out in the open and high up. L. Kohnen said that the state building code requires the landing that is shown and that we would also make sure there are railings on both sides of the steps. He said that we do not want anyone slipping on the steps. F. Mignone asked if the enclosure would be wood. Paul Neumann, representing the Legion, said that it would be aluminum with lights on both sides of the door. Bruce Workman asked what hardship to state in the motion, F. Mignone said existing set -back. Bob Bradley said lets not use the term hardship. 1 MOVED BY BOB BRADLEY AND SECONDED BY BRUCE WORKMAN TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE 40'4" FRONT SET -BACK VARIANCE FOR THE JOHN POLKER AMERICAN LEGION POST #394 AT 75 HAMEL ROAD BASED ON SAFTEY REASONS AND THE FACT THE SET -BACK IS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER BUILDINGS IN THE AREA. MOTION PASSED. MOVED BY BRUCE WORMAN AND SECONDED BY FRANK MIGNONE TO ADJOURN.. MOTION PASSED. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 7:44 P.M. Planning and Zoning Assistant Date 2
