A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AWARDING
A CONTRACT TO GARCIA JUAREZ CONSTRUCTION, INC. AS THE APPARENT
LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, IN THE AMOUNT OF $305,610 FOR THE
WALDORF DRIVE, ALVADA STREET AND HARRIS AVENUE WATER MAIN
REPLACEMENT AND STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, PROJECT NUMBER
4011.67.986 AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Waldorf Drive, Alvada Street and Harris Avenue Water Main
Replacement and Street Improvement Project is scheduled for completion during fiscal
year (FY) 2009-2010; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood adopted the plans, ~'
specifications and working details for the Waldorf Drive, Alvada Street and Harris
Avenue Water Main Replacement and Street Improvement Project on August 18, 2009,
and Public Works staff advertised the project on September 22, 2009, September 24, ' i
2009 and on October 1, 2009; and
WHEREAS, thirty contractors received project plans and contract documents;
and '
WHEREAS, the bid opening took place in the Office of the City Clerk on October
15, 2009, and twelve contractors'submitted bids; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works /City Engineer has ascertained that
Garcia Juarez Construction, Inc. was the lowest responsible bidder at $305,610 for the
total of Unit Price Bid Schedule "A"; and
WHEREAS, a reference check has revealed that this contractor, Garcia Juarez
Construction, Inc., has the necessary experience and contractor's license for this type of
project; and

WHEREAS, the project budget .is adequate to pay for the Waldorf Drive,.Alvada
Street and Harris Avenue Water Main Replacement and Street Improvement Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES ' ~
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the contract for the Waldorf Drive, Alvada Street and Harris ~
Avenue Water Main Replacement and Street Improvement Project, Project No. i
4011.67.986, be awarded to Garcia Juarez Construction, Inc. for the total of Unit Price i
Bid Schedule "A". ~
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the agreement
between the City Council of the City of Lynwood and Garcia Juarez Construction, Inc.,
approved as to form by the City Attorney.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City Council
Resolution.
