AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9-11,I OF THE GREENC • STLE
CITY CODE APPROVING WATER RATES AND CHARGES
WHEREAS,the City of Greencastle,Indiana, owns and operates a municipal wate system
and collects rates and charges for the use of and the services rendered by said water system •ursuant
to I. C. 8-1.5-3-8;
WHEREAS,the Indiana legislature repealed the Utility Receipts Tax(previously I.I.6-2.3)
which affected Greencastle retail water customers, and passed House Bill 1002, requirint utility
rates be adjusted to reflect the removal of the tax.The Utility Receipts Tax did not apply to ontract
or Wholesale customers and no adjustment to those rates is required.
WHEREAS,removing the tax will result in the reduction of$.04 per 100 cubic feet •f water
used by retail customers.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greenca.tle that
the enumerated water rates and charges as set forth in the Greencastle City Code, Section •-11,be
amended and read as follows:

All other terms and conditions contained in Greencastle Code 9-11, which are not spec fically
amended herein shall remain in full force and effect. This Ordinance shall have full force and effect
upon passage of the Greencastle Common Council and its approval by the Mayor and the abo e rates
shall become effective July 1, 2022.
